Commissioner, Craig Wiedel, with USAV National Team Members

USA Volleyball

USA Volleyball is the national governing body for volleyball in the United States. It is the same organization that trains and sponsors our national teams who compete in the Olympics. It is through USAV that Nebraska notables such as Cathy Noth, Lori Endicott, Allison Weston, Nancy Metcalf, and Jordan Larson have played on the Women’s USA National Team. The USAV provides research, coaching education, insurance, and acts as a resource for all organizations involved in volleyball across the nation for all age levels from youth to adult divisions.

Each year volleyball teams are organized by clubs and register to play USA Volleyball competition as members of the Great Plains Regional Volleyball Association.  Our region is one of 40 regions in the United States making up the Regional Operations Division of USA Volleyball.

About Great Plains

Great Plains is an affiliate Region of USA Volleyball. We manage all club programs within the Great Plains Region. Club volleyball is not a part of the high school or junior high school association. Club volleyball is one of the fastest growing sports in Nebraska.

Club teams normally acquire practice times through junior high and high school gyms. However, in the past few years, several volleyball facilities have been built for the sole purpose of club practices, training, and tournaments. Most clubs now offer private volleyball lessons, camps, clinics, plyometric training, and weight lifting for its players to further develop the athlete as the game of volleyball continues to evolve. Clubs in the Great Plains Region offer quality training for coaches, officials, and volleyball players through clinics, camps, and tournaments. We also offer the athlete an opportunity to grow, learn, and enjoy the sport of volleyball with competitive playing at all age and skill levels.
